Travel Information

You are encouraged to make early travel arrangements, since summer is a busy travel period in southern California. San Diego can be reached conveniently by air, train (Amtrak stations in Solana Beach and San Diego), automobile, or intercity bus from Los Angeles or Tijuana. The UCSD campus is located in La Jolla and is approximately 15 miles (24 km) north of the San Diego airport. A rental car is recommended for extensive travel around San Diego; seek the best weekly rate.

VISAS/DOCUMENTS
IUPAC sponsorship implies that entry visas will be granted to all bona fide chemists, provided application is made not less than three months in advance. Because of US security concerns, the process should be undertaken as early as possible. Information about embassies and consulates that issue visas can be obtained from the Department of State. Another source of information and assistance is the International Student & Scholar Office at the UCSD International Center open M - F 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM; Phone: (858)-534-3730. Attendees who plan to visit Mexico may need a multiple-entry visa.

If a visa is not granted one month before the meeting, the applicant should notify the IUPAC Secretariat (e-mail: secretariat@iupac.org) without further delay.

A letter from the ICPOC organizers, which describes the conference and certifies an attendee's participation, can be provided on request.

Attendees who plan to visit Mexico may need a multiple-entry visa.
